Bob Haney, 50 Year Member

Bob Haney, a longtime area resident of Colville, passed away Dec. 31 in Colville at the age of 83.

Mr. Haney was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Colville, the son of Robert and Mary (Campbell) Haney. Mr. Haney grew up in Colville where he attended school, graduating in 1936. He continued his education, graduating from Washington State University in 1941. He received his Bachelor's degree in teaching.

On March 7, 1941, Mr. Haney married Genevieve Bevan in Coeur d'Alene. The couple moved to Kelso, where Mr. Haney taught high school for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Army during WW II. After his discharge, Mr. Haney returned to Kelso where he continued teaching at the high school for another three years.

In 1949, the family moved to Colville. Mr. Haney worked for Draper's Mill for many years, later becoming manager. In 1959, he started Haney's Lumber in Colville.

Mr. Haney was a member of the Colville United Methodist Church, Colville Kiwanis, Colville Masonic Lodge No. 50 F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, El Katif Temple, the Northeast Washington Shrine Club, and the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at WSU. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and people, especially the chance to talk to them. For many years, Mr. Haney was one of Colville's most active senior citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Haney, Colville; two daughters, Marilyn Haney, Colville; Pat Michaelsen, Reno, NV; one son, Bob Haney and wife Katie, Mead; five grandchildren, Jeff Haney, Spokane; Betsy Duchesne and husband Derek, Spokane; Stacy Ferney and husband Ben, Spokane; Kirk Michaelsen, Spokane; and Angela Michaelsen, Puyallup.

Funeral service for Bob Haney was held Tuesday, Jan. 4 at the Colville United Methodist Church with Reverend Don Lange officiating. Burial followed at the Mountain View Park Cemetery with the Colville Masonic Lodge participating. Memorial tributes may be made to the Shrine Hospital or the Little League field in care of the Colville Kiwanis Club. The Danekas Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements
